Loving the homegrown life, raising kids and critters

Our Story

Our farming journey began in 2021 when we decided to relocate from our homestead in southeast Wyoming to start a farm in New York state’s Mohawk Valley. We purchased our new property in the spring of 2022. Then immediately started working to convert it into a small family farm.

For us, the transition from homestead to farm is a natural one. Steph grew up on a multi-generation cattle ranch, before going on to the University of Wyoming where she earned a degree in Agricultural Communications. Kory also has family roots in ranching and grew up working alongside his dad on building and construction projects. Our Wyoming homestead gave us a place to practice building, gardening, and raising goats and chickens. When we outgrew that property, a small farm felt like the next step.

We love our agricultural lifestyle. There is truly no better way to connect with where your food comes from than to be invested in its production. Growing a large garden, keeping a flock of laying hens, and raising livestock for meat and milk are steps toward a more self-sustainable lifestyle. Teaching our children to grow, raise, and preserve food has always been important to us. Working on DIY projects as a family gives our kids invaluable skills for their future. It also helps us build the needed infrastructure for our family farm. Seeing our dreams become reality makes the hard work worth it!

As we share our stories, tips, and tricks we hope to inspire and encourage you in your journey. No matter where you are starting from, we hope you find some useful skills and ideas.

What's in a name?

Why Oops-A-Daisy Farm? Several reasons, really. The cleared meadow behind the house was brimming full of wildflowers during our first summer here. Steph has always loved daisies, and was thrilled to find them growing wild. Our wild daisies, paired with a commitment to keep trying even when we struggle made “Oops-A-Daisy” feel like the perfect fit.

Besides, it makes us smile – so why not?
